Whenever I start up WXP on this machine, I get an open folder appearing on
the desktop that I don't need. This is in spite of the fact that I always
close down WXP with the desktop clear of any open folders.

How can I stop this happening?

Check Start>All Programs>Startup to see if there is a shortcut to the
offending folder there.

Hi Gerry,

What folder does it open to? There are several causes, and knowing what
folder it opens to will help determine what the right fix is for you.
