g'day and hny to all from oz...
i'm a generally satisfied xp pro (sp2, fully uptodate) user at home. however, a number of times lately, i've been prompted to reactivate windows because it's 'changed' significantly since the original install. the latest reactivation (today) sent a message that the product had been reactivated too many times and needed the product key reentered. i have no problem going through this but is this continual reactivation reasonable (every two or three months it seems to occur)? thanks in advance! cw utc+8 |

negative...
last hardware change was to add a wireless modem card months ago. i should add that i use norton's av 2006 and sygate's freeware firewall - both have been on the machine for some time while the latest reactivate request came up today. i use the same firewall and av software on another (newer) machine at home as well, which has no similar reactiation issues. cw "Heirloom" wrote: > Are you making frequent or major hardware changes to your computer?? > Heirloom, old and could explain it > > > "chris" <chris@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news ED1F1B9-AEE1-461F-A7F5-CD1FCA414DF9@microsoft.com...> > g'day and hny to all from oz... > > > > i'm a generally satisfied xp pro (sp2, fully uptodate) user at home. > > > > however, a number of times lately, i've been prompted to reactivate > > windows > > because it's 'changed' significantly since the original install. > > > > the latest reactivation (today) sent a message that the product had been > > reactivated too many times and needed the product key reentered. > > > > i have no problem going through this but is this continual reactivation > > reasonable (every two or three months it seems to occur)? > > > > thanks in advance! > > > > cw > > utc+8 > > > |

That is strange..........looks like we need one of the 'gurus' on this.
Post back with the resolution when you find it, I am very curious about the cause.
