Default Re: CRYPTUI.dll NOT FOUND...

Hey Chas,

Tried your last suggestion for System Restore. Everytime I typed in a '\'
i'd get a beep with the CRYTPUI.dll error. Then when I clicked OK, I got the
same error. I tried it again, regardless of it not working after the first
attempt, and the System Restore window opened, but was all white and never
loaded anything. Is there a way to get the dll file out of my system32 folder
and replace it with a new one? Or to add one if it's not detecting one?

Thanks
-Mike

Default Re: CRYPTUI.dll NOT FOUND...

I tried another Repair Install.....and realized that it never completed the
first time. After replacing all the files, Windows is supposed to reboot and
finalize the installation. Well, it turns out that any time Windows goes past
the Windows XP loading screen (with the big XP logo in the center of the
screen), that an error occurs. As it goes past the Windows loading screen, I
get the red moving box across my screen that says that Video Mode is not
supported or something. So I unplug my monitor connection and replug it, and
then all I see is a blank screen with my mouse (enlarged) and not moving.
Then I wait and wait and nothing happens. The repair install never completes.
I don't know what to do. Things are looking bleak. I can't start in SAFE
MODE. None of the recommendations worked to repair anything, and I can't
successfully complete a repair install due to the problems that I keep
experiencing. I may have to purchase yet another hard drive. Think I should
post to another thread and see if anyone else had any other ideas?

Thanks a lot for your help,
-Mike
