Default "Defense manouver" caused me data loss.

Hi, I was using MSN IM with a friend and he trasnfered some files over to me.
When i tried to open them, Windows popped-up a message saying that it had
determined the files were posibly dangerous for the computer and had blocked
access to them. I went to the Help section, but I couldn't follow the
instructions because the files were nowhere in my PC. I asked my friends to
run an antivirus on them, and resend them. He did and said the antivirus
claimed them clean, yet when he resent them, Windows did the same thing over
again. I can't findt he files int he computer, so I can't unblock access to
them. What can I do, if anything, to retreive my files, and what can I do to
keep Windows from doing that again?

Hi,

The default download location is here:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\My Documents\My Received Files

Right click the files and choose properties, on the general tab click the
button to unblock them.

that's what it said on the help file. problem is the files were not in that
folder, nor anywhere else in the computer.

Hi,

From messenger, click tools/options, towards the bottom of the third tab is
the download location in use by the program. Make sure when you are
receiving files that you are saving them, not trying to open them directly.
