Default Newly installed XP Pro cannot recognise old NTFS partitions

Hi all,

I have 2 hard drives in my PC. Old HD has Win2000-SP4 on it with 2
other NTFS partitions and I installed XP-SP2 on the new HD. Both OS
can still boot with change in BIOS boot order.

The problem is, when booted with XP it cannot see one of the NTFS
partition on the old HD (the one with W2000 and another one are ok) -
it sees as "Local Disk" and cannot see its content. But when booted
with the original Win2000 from old HD, it has no problem seeing the
content.

NTFS 'incompatibility'? This is unbelievable. Any recommendations?

Regards,
Ernest

I'll have to check at home but originally I never made any disk
dynamic, so all the NTFS I have should be on basic disks.

This is most likely because the new operating system doesn't "own" the old
HD. Try booting into safe mode and see if you can view the contents of the
HD in question.

I tried booting up in safe mode and the disk is still a "Local Disk"
that is "unreadable or corrupted". BTW, I've checked it is a Basic
Disk. So how does one fix this 'ownership' problem? On the other
hand, what causes it? I have 3 partitions on the disk and only this
particular one has this problem.
