Default Microsof Word and XP

I have Works 7.0 installed but when I copied documents from my desktop I
found that my Microsoft Word docs appeared in Wordpad and I cannot read all
of the some documents. I AM told thaT it is possible to change the settings
using the Works CD supplied with my Dell PC so that Word appears and can be
used as per my desktop. Can anyone tell me how I do this?

Hi,

Control Panel/Folder Options/File Types tab, you need to alter the settings
for .doc so that Works is the default rather than Wordpad. You may also be
able to do this by right-clicking a .doc file and choosing "open with" (hold
the shift key down while right-clicking if this option is not on the list),
then selecting Works from the list and checking the box to "always use....".
