I would have though that you sort of half answered your own question, in the
same question ! Identify your hardware properly, then collect the necessary drivers, if you're not happy with XP's offerings ! ....and of course collect graphics drivers for the specific graphics chipset in your "Friends" PC :-) regards, Richard "vbehler" <vbehler.214yx3@no-mx.gateway.localhost> wrote in message news:vbehler.214yx3@no-mx.gateway.localhost... > > I have recently installed Windows XP on a friends PC which was > previously running windows ME and now it can't find the video driver to > the card why has this happened it is a giga-byte motherboard but i cant > find enough identification to id the Motherboard is there a possible > generic 16-32 bit video driver somewhere cause at the moment it is > running 4bit video which is nearly impossible to use > > cheers vince > > > -- > vbehler > Posted via http://ms-os.com Forum to Usenet gateway > |

Before doing an upgrade to XP one should always make sure XP compatible drivers are at hand for all hardware. Get Belarc Advisor to see what info it can give you on the hardware. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html -- Rock MS MVP Windows - Shell/User |
