I've been trying to install several applications on my laptop. These apps are
GOOD as they've installed on several other laptops/systems. Serial NOs are not an issue as we have Corporate Licenses. Here's the blow by blow: 1) NAV Anti-virus disabled, 2) All Adware and spy scapers are disabled, 3) Admin perms, 4) No Policies, 5) WinXP - SP2, 6) Run the Installer (or executable etc.), gets past the point where the MSI file is read, files are extracted, then just QUITS. No message, nothing in the event logs - nada, 7) These apps used to be fine, but as of Monday three of them just stopped. By that I mean, when I run them, the appropriate splash screen is displayed, then they quit. See below for a list, 8) I can install them onto other systems just fine - so it's something on mine. Prior to disabling everything, I ran a cull virus scan (NAV, McAfee etc), nada. Same for spyware, trojans etc, 9) We've talked to the manufacturers (almost 5 hours yesterday). Al they could suggest was reviewing the KB articles, removing the app(s) (including the Reg Entries), Virus scan etc. nada. List of Apps: 1) PcAnywhere 10.5 - used to be fine. Reinstalled without error, but again the Splash screen pops up and then the app quites, 2) Snagit Studio 6 - same as above, 3) Sniffer Pro 4.7, won't install - Splash Screen comes up, extracts the appropriate files then quts, 4) MS DotNet Studio. Installing from CD1 fails, but installing directly from CD2 works fine??? We've searched the web, MS KBs, read the "Readme Files - YUP", checked with peers, vendors etc. Ran RegCleaners etc, nada. We would really appreciate any help we can get. We really don't kow what the ^$%&) is happening here. Thanks to all... -- Wiley Credo: Let people think you're a fool, rather than open mouth and remove all doubt! |

Did you look in event viewer to see if there is a clue there?
