Bought and installed XP Professional on a computer back in early 2003. After
updating the software from the Microsoft web-site I was unable to open any word, excel, or pp files. After several hours talking to tech support they decided that I need to reinstall XP Professional. Here is the problem. I can not find the disk. The last time I used it was back in 2003. any ideas? |

if you registered it and have the cdkey call MS and asked them if
they could send you another disk, tell them the disk you have is damaged. Hey I don't even know if you had to registered it. All they can say is no. One other thought is you have the cdkey sticker on your machine so you could probably borrow a disk or have a friend make you a copy. If you don't have the sticker on the machine you can find programs on the net to retrieve it from your system. Provided that it's a Retail version: "How to replace lost, broken, or missing Microsoft software or hardware" http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=326246 If it's an OEM version, contact the vendor. If the supplier doesn't exist anymore, contact Microsoft and explain that situation. -- d-d |
