boot from CDROM

I would like to boot the system from CDROM.
I have put my W2K server installation disk in CDROM and set the CDROM as the
first priority to boot.
I expect the system will prompt me to press any key to boot from CDROM, but
it doesnt.
It just go straight to the harddisk boot, the installed WinXP.
How can I fix it?

im not sure if this will work but its worth a try, put the disk that you are
booting from, restart the computer, as soon as it restarts, press the f10 key
once about every second as soon as it restarts, possibly it will ask you what
CDROM drive you want to boot from, choose the correct CDROM drive to boot
from, if it doesnt ask you that, then i dont know.

Depends on your PC. When you boot it should/might say something about press
<key> to enter setup. Do so and change the boot order to boot to CD. If it's
not listed then try F2, ESC, and DEL (during/before POST) as those three are
the most common that I come across.

Yes, I press DEL and have the access for BIOS. I have moved the CDROM boot
as the first boot order and the harddisk is the last. But it still jump to
the harddisk boot.

And where did this disk come from? As in is it a real Microsoft CD or one
you got from a friend or made yourself? In other words are you sure it's
bootable? If you put it into the tray while you're running Windows XP does
it automatically start or anything?

That only means that autorun may be on, which would cause any cd inserted to
open automatically. Is it possible that this cd is not the original, and
was copied in such a way as to make it unbootable? (For instance, copying
the files of a bootable disk to the hard drive and then burning those files
will result in a non-bootable cd. However, using Nero's CD copy utility
will copy the cd identically, creating another bootable cd).
