Hi,
I have downloaded several ISO images from IBM and Dell and have written it to CD. I am trying to download a server install software from Dell and it downloads properly but does not open my CD BURNER software automatically to start writing to it. I am not sure what is wrong with my XP Professional. XP Professional SP2 McAfee Security Center installed Sonic Digital Media LE v7 What could be wrong? I even tried the same thing with another PC which is Windows 2000 professional, and I came across the same problem. when I click on the ISO image, it asks me to link it to a file so that it can understand what type of file it is. This is strange, has anyone had this kind of problems or issues before? Please, let me know, so that I can contact DELL one in regard to the ISO image and 2. In regard to my LAPTOP which is a DELL INSPIRON 6000. thanks and I appreciate it. |

Open the iso image with a 3rd party program such as nero free for trial here
http://www.ahead.de once nero has opened the image burn it to cd. If you burn the iso file to a cd directly it is not a recognised format unless you have programs such as "isomagic" or "alcohol 120%" installed. - Regards John MCP Windows XP Professional "Neil" <Neil@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C0D17DD1-7B36-494F-9C78-511063141359@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I have downloaded several ISO images from IBM and Dell and have written it > to CD. An ISO image is just that, an image of the data that would be written to the
CD. You will need a CD writing program such as Roxio CD Creator or Nero to read the ISO image and burn the CD. Then you will be able to access the CD in a normal manner. You may find information here http://iso.snoekonline.com/iso.htm This site will tell you how to use Nero to burn an image http://www.wizardskeep.org/mainhall/tutor/neroiso.html This site will tell you how to use EZ CD Creator to burn an image http://www.wizardskeep.org/mainhall/.../cdcrtiso.html Hope this information helps "Neil" <Neil@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C0D17DD1-7B36-494F-9C78-511063141359@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I have downloaded several ISO images from IBM and Dell and have written it > to CD. If you do not have a file extension association for the ISO type files, the CD burning application WILL not start. You need to open it up in Nero or Rxoio (or others.) since XP will not natively do ISO files. -- --- Y. |
