Hi. I have had the somae problem and believe that I found the solution.
Unfortunately my drive was in fact a counterfeit item. Mine was a SanDisk and I contacted them for help. They asked me for the serial number and when I supplied it they confirmed it as counterfeit. I was able to return mine and I purchased a new one. I hope you can get yours returned and your money back. "M.
