Hi,
I have got this problem i.e. My CD-ROM or DVD-ROM cannot read or play any type of disc or dvd, and this kind of problem has just started recently. When i try to put and play any kind of cd or dvd it doesn't show anything, it says NO DISC. I have checked on device manager i.e. on cd/dvd drives it says ''This device is working properly'' I have tried to uninstall and to install but still the same problem, I have checked for the updates there is no any updates, I have tried to troubleshoot it, still the same problem. The following are its details: Device type: DVD/CD-ROM drives Manufacture: (Standard CD-ROM drives) Location: Location 1 (1) Device status: This device is working properly. Driver provider: Microsoft Device name: ATAPI COMBO 48XMAX Driver version: 5.1.2535.0 Digital signer: Microsoft Windows Publisher I will be very greatfull for any kind of help from anyone. Many thanks. MK |

If the new drive works, replace the original. Drives don't last forever. CD/DVD-ROM drives are under $25usd. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" Hi Malke,
Sorry to ask you, After buying new drives and replace it with new one, what can i do with old drives which are installed on my computer? cause i know on how to replace that thing used to put CD or DVD (CD/DVD ROM). Is there a need to buy the similar one with the old one? Please could just tell me on what to do with step by step. I'm asking this because i'm not very good on this sector. Hope to get help from you all. Many thanx MK "Malke" wrote: > MK wrote: > > > Hi, > > I have got this problem i.e. My CD-ROM or DVD-ROM cannot read or play > > any type of disc or dvd, and this kind of problem has just started > > recently. You were originally saying that your CD/DVD-ROM drive wasn't working. I suggested swapping it out with a known-working one. If the new drive works fine, throw the old one away. I don't know what you mean by "old drives" - plural - in this latest post. If you are uncomfortable opening the case and working with hardware, have a local shop do it for you. It will not be very expensive. Malke -- MS-MVP Windows User/Shell Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic" |
