Default Help! External Drive not found

Hi there!

I really hope someone can help me!

I just bought an external hard drive and enclosure and when I plug the
cable into my computer it recognizes that its attached - but when I go
into my Explore function so that I can drag my files onto it - its no
where to be found?!! I dont see it listed in any 'DRIVE' or
anything....all I can find is that its supposedly in "Location 0"
whatever that means!!!

I dont know what do to!! where can i find it? thank you to anyone who
replies!!

All mfgs have a DOS utility for thier hds, download it to a MS-DOS formatted
floppy, set the floppy in BIOS as 1st boot device,in the utility, format the
drive,
this must be done before any transfer of files can take place.Once formatted,
restart xp.If it doesnt show,or other problems exist, boot to xp cd,recovery,
press enter key for password, select 1 for disk C:,then typeiskPart In
DiskPart
youre external drive should show, delete partition, create one, then press ESC
key,
then type:FORMAT D: /FS:ntfs D: being external,when thru type:EXIT

Before the drive can be used it must be initialized, partitioned and
formatted. This can be done with Windows XP's disk management utility. There
is no need to use any other utility as another poster suggests.

Instructions can be found @
http://www.seagate.com/support/kb/di...disk_mgmt.html

(note: while the instructions there refer to an internal drive the procedure
is exactly the same for a USB drive)
