Bobby,
Yes I have removed all traces of previous drivers, first using the various software removal tools and then I completely re-installed XP including a hard disk format. I then carried out all the updates from the microsoft update site. Airman,
I have an Iiyama ProLite E481S LCD monitor. I also thought it might be the monitor so I tried a 19" LG CRT but got with exactley the same results. John,
Did you install the chipset drivers for your motherboard..? If you don't know your computers specs, try these diagnostic tools.. http://www.lavalys.com/products/down...?pid=1&lang=en http://aumha.net/downloads/aida32.zip It would help to know more about your computers specs.. New build, OEM, XP retail ver, motherboard info, etc.. j;-j "John" wrote: > Sharon, > > I have the X700 AGP. I have tried installing both the full package and just > the minimal drivers. John, it sounds like you're doing everything right. Have you considered giving their tech support a call? At this point, I'm starting to wonder if you got a duff card - one that is not quite right and should be replaced by ATI. -- Sharon F MS-MVP ~ Windows Shell/User |

are you using the DVI port, or the analog port? ATI Cards/Drivers are
known to have problems w/ the DVI port, some lcd panels work ok, others do not. [FWIW, my samsung occasionally has a hard time syncing up, even w/ the best settings in place; power cycling the lcd usually makes it sync up ok. my earlier (cheap) nVidia card never had this problem at all]. if your lcd panel supports both analog and digital inputs, start off w/ the analog. once you get that working, go into the ati control panel (I do not recommend using the Catalyst Control Center, use the control panel vesion, as it does not require .NET) and on the Options tab you'll need to "play with" the last 2 items: Reduce DVI Freq... and Alternate DVI Operational Mode. I say "play with" because there is no specific set of settings that works for everyone. Try unchecked and checked to start, move the connector over to the digital input and see if that works; you may need to power off the lcd and power it back on to get it to sync up. ---------- Good Luck. Here's a very good site for trouble shooting ATI cards: http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33738545 If all else fails, return the card for a refund. I hate to say this, but I have been soured to ATI lately, nVidia seems to be back on top. |
