Hi I want to instal a small second hard drive 20Gb, just to hold os xp.Then use my180Gb drive as storage space for all my programs and work. In order to format the 180Gb drive that I use now as my main drive with xp on it, can I go to start / my computer / local disl c / right click and select format? Thanks in advance for any help. as long as you have installed OS on 20 gig HDD and are running windows from it.
you can put 180 gig in computer as slave, start windows from 20 gig and format "180" gig HDD. Don't think it will be called "C" though. What ever I'm sure Windows won't let you format the HDD that you booted from. yes yuor method works. -- Dennis S. I''m from Illinois. I hope I helped you. Good Luck. Hi, XP, and all your programs, would be better off on the 180g drive as far
as performance is concerned as it is a newer, more efficient drive....
