Default Gigabyte mb - installing 3rd 512 ddr 333 pc2700 ram - windows stal

When I install a third stick of pc2700 ddr ram (4 different types now!) my
bios recognizes the extra ram, but winxp pro freezes after booting into my
desktop with the taskbar. (*I can't click on anything to make it work once
the gui is up).
The motherboard is a Giga-byte GA-7VAXP with an Athlon 2800+ cpu and a
Radeon 9000 Pro video card. Stock everything - no overclocking.

Any help most appreciated!

Win/Ram can be picky particularly if you have multiple types.
The mobo manual should give info on types of ram/combinations, or you should
visit eg Kingston/Crucial etc and use their selector for ram specific to
your sys.
However if you have multiple other brands you may still have trouble.

Hi DL

I did all that. Crucial and Kingston both have memory specific for my mb. I
have already tried a kingston stick and it didn't work either. Also a
Transcend, an Azumemory and another one I don't remember... Maybe a Crucial
might work, but it's hard to find here in Canada.

I actually think it's something in Windows, because my Bios boots the sticks
up with no glitches at all... then windows launches, sets the desktop and
STALLS...

???

Your original RAM may not be compatible with what is actually recommended
for your computer. Will the computer boot if you remove the original RAM,
leaving in only the new RAM. If yes, get more of the new type of RAM and put
your old RAM in your equipment locker for possible future repair of another
computer.
