Default Rescue data from a HDD in "Dynamic" state

Hi,

Can anyone help me on the following:

Got a Seagate HDD for some unknown reason now is in the "Dynamic" state.

Check with the authorized dealer and had been told the HDD itself is ok.

My question is, is there a way that I can rescue the data from the HDD using
any tools?

The dealer told me that I can change the state of the HDD and it can be used
again.

However, if I changed the state and it will loss all data.

So my little wish is to get out of the data before changing the state.

Many thanks in advance.

WinXP can read data equally easily from dynamic disks
as from basic disks. Just copy your files to a basic disk
before repartitioning the dynamic disk.

Hi,

Thanks for the tips. However, the problem is that I can't "start" the disk
in disk management, and thus cannot see the drive and copy data from the
drive.

Is there a workaround for start the drive and copy the data?

Many thanks.

Well, that's a completely different issue! These links might
help:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=236086
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=320283

If they don't then you might have to use a suitable partition
recovery tool. Use Google to scan for these words:
partition recovery "dynamic disk"
