Default No bios display on reboot

I have a desktop running under Windows XP that has recently developed a
display problem.

The hardware details are as follows:

NVidia Geforce Ti4600 connected via DVI to
NEC 1880SX Display

Booting the machine results in no bios display at all. However, if I
boot using an alternative monitor, everything is fine and I can logon
to Windows XP. If I then switch the DVI input cable to the NEC monitor
everything is fine.

However, as soon as I reboot the machine again, I lose the display.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this?
