Installed my xp pro 64 bit and as expected a lot of stuff didnt work or
required tweaking to work... I have been able to get most everything working however I cant even begin to start installing my game controller even as a generic because when in control panel, clicking on game controllers brings up the game controller window and none are listed, and I have two buttons, troubleshoot and advancedf. Advanced brings up another window showing a pull down menu for preferred device listing none. Theres no "add" anywhere in the loop even in troubleshooting which tells me to open up game controllers and clicking on the non-existant "add" selection... How am I supposed to add the controller? |

it's clearly obvious that you posted that reply based on the topic of the
post - not the body of the post. it doesnt help at all, as I said, I have NO Add in mine so i can't... let me further illustrate: 1. Attach the game controller to a game port 2. Open Game Controllers in Control Panel. 3. Click Add. <---- I would LOVE to click ADD but there IS NO ADD to click "Wesley Vogel" wrote: > Diagnosing game controller issues > http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d..._gameport.mspx > > The Game Controllers item in Control Panel does not list a game controller > that is plugged into the game port > http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;842956 > > Windows XP does not correctly detect a SideWinder Standard joystick > http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;842957 > > -- > Hope this helps. Gameports a being "phased-out" of Windows. Windows XP 32bit does not have any
newer device drivers being written for the gameports. Microsoft is to remove the gameport completely in the next version of Windows (Vista??) and I guess they decided to remove them from the 64bit. Microsoft is encouraging USB devices On 26/11/2005 Eunichman <eunichman@hotmail.com> wrote: >it's clearly obvious that you posted that reply based on the topic of the >post - not the body of the post. it doesnt help at all, as I said, I have NO >Add in mine so i can't... let me further illustrate: > >1. > > >Attach the game controller to a game port > >2. > > >Open Game Controllers in Control Panel. > >3. > > >Click Add. <---- I would LOVE to click ADD but there IS NO ADD to click > >"Wesley Vogel" wrote: > >> Diagnosing game controller issues >> http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...oddocs/en-us/c pl_joy_tshoot_install_gameport.mspx >> >> The Game Controllers item in Control Panel does not list a game controller >> that is plugged into the game port >> http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;842956 >> >> Windows XP does not correctly detect a SideWinder Standard joystick >> http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;842957 >> >> -- >> Hope this helps.
