When I install additional memory initial boot up recognises it, but get
error message when booting up windows. "Unable to start window due to lost or corrupted ntoskrnl.exe file. If I remove new memory boots up OK. This is the second set of memory I have problems with. I would be grateful for any help. Regards Andrew Lathwell |

Sometimes it is hard to get a match with what you already have in your
computer. To get around that problem I always purchase the "total" of what I want at the same time, from the same supplier - hopefully manufactured on the same day in the same batch. Then I remove what was previously in the computer and use only the new RAM. The old RAM goes for inexpensive repairs to other computers ( and yes, I tell the customers that I have good used RAM I can install if they want to save money). Just recently I removed 2-256 meg sticks of PC3200, clock 3 RAM from my personal computer because I wanted to upgrade to 1 gig of PC3200, clock 2 RAM. Someone in the near future will get a deal on 512 meg of PC3200 RAM when they ask for an upgrade. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User Quote from George Ankner: If you knew as much as you think you know, You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! <karine@fortier.freeserve.co.uk> wrote in message news:uwR6bT48FHA.2264@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... > When I install additional memory initial boot up recognises it, but get > error message when booting up windows. > "Unable to start window due to lost or corrupted ntoskrnl.exe file. > > If I remove new memory boots up OK.
