No. Standard Cat 5 cables will not work PC to PC. A crossover cable has one plug wired 'straight' and the other has 2 wire pairs 'crossed' Try "crossover cable" in the search box at Dabs. Should take you he http://tinyurl.com/9yxgr Just choose the length you need. John Actually, I have ran a Cat5 cable PC to PC with XP Pro on both machines without problems...in fact, it recognized the network better than using my ol' linksys here. The only reason I added a hub to the network is because I now have a 3rd machine. So yes...a standard CAT5 cable can be used from machine to machine...at least while using XP Pro. -- Archangel_76 |

Maybe one of your cards was "auto-sensing"? In other words, it auto
