Your motherboard accepts 133mhz SDRAM.. that is the way things are.. Everest Home told you what it is.. Crucial.com told you what it is.. others have told you what it is.. Question.. why do you need to know? -- Mike Hall MVP - Windows Shell/User "mand" <mand@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:CD0505AB-3AC2-47B8-93B2-D2BD6D11911B@microsoft.com... > it just says 256mb and 512mb but only at 133MHz, foned up pc world and > they > told me to just take the memory out of the pc and take it down to them and > they can sort it out, as i gave them the speed and the make of the pc > etc.. > but their system didnt recongise it, > > "Alias" wrote: > >> mand wrote: >> >> > just done that and got his >> > >> > Computer Manufacturer >> > Giga-Byte >> > Computer Model >> > GA-7VKMLS >> > CPU Manufacturer >> > AuthenticAMD >> > CPU Family >> > AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1700+ >> > CPU Speed >> > 1469 MHz >> > Front-Side Bus Speed >> > 133 MHz >> > Currently Installed Memory >> > 128 MB >> > Maximum Memory Capacity >> > 1024MB >> > Total Number Of Memory Slots >> > 2 >> > Available Memory Slots >> > 1 >> > >> > does that mean i can only use a 133MHz speed? >> >> What RAM does Crucial recommend? >> >> Alias >> > >> > "Alias" wrote: >> > >> > >> >>mand wrote: >> >> >> >>>Memory Type SDRAM >> >>> Memory Speed PC133 (133 MHz) >> >>> >> >>>their the only things i could see that were about memory, >> >> >> >>That's it but which 133 that will work on your computer is another >> >>question. Take a breath. Your text is too hard to read, so I won't!
Re-type your question using standard first letter of sentence capitalization. A period and a space after the period (at the end of a sentence) would be nice too. The icing on the cake would be paragraphs (you know, a space between separate trains of thought). -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User Quote from George Ankner: If you knew as much as you think you know, You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! PC 133 MHz
> Currently Installed Memory > 128 MB > Maximum Memory Capacity > 1024MB Total Number Of Memory Slots > 2 > Available Memory Slots > 1 You already have 128mb of pc 133mhz sdram dimm You can buy this ram as 32, 64, 128, 256, and 512 mb even though Pc world or whoever only has 128 and 256mb you have 2 slots for ram (one used) You have a max ram of 1 gig. Therefore, you can purchase up to TWO 512mb pc133mhz ram What ever size you buy wouldn't be bad idea to buy in pairs of same size BUT you already ONE 128mb pc133, you have the option of: purchasing (since PC world only has 128 and 512 mb) you can purchase one 128 or 512 mb Total Ram could: One 128 + 256 = 384 mb One 128 + 512 = 640 mb OR get rid of the 128 and you can mix and match 256 and 512 or buy two 256 (total 512) OR two 512 (total 1gig) Have I confused you? I hope not. Because this is as good as it gets!! Good Luck.
