Turn on the PC. Put on some latex non-powdered gloves. Insert one of the
discs, the first one if you have more than one in the cd or dvd drive, close the cd/dvd tray manually by pushing it in toward the computer. If there is a glass or cup in the tray area, remove it first. Turn off the computer for at least ten seconds. Turn on the computer. Should be painless at this point. Answer any license agreement in a positive fashion. Leave the computer for awhile so you don't accidentally hit or spill something on the keyboard or mouse. Check the computer for request for another disc if needed once in awhile. When its finished, put the discs back in their sleeves and put them in a safe place. Remove the gloves at your leisure. You may open the cd/dvd tray and place the glass or cup in that location if so desired. ![]() -- Jonny "rochelle" <rochelle@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:83BC9318-3DD7-4065-B493-92084ED79536@microsoft.com... > i installed some older software on my computer and now it is all bung, i > uninstalled it and done a system restore but it did not work. now i have > backed up all the stuff i need to keep and i want to use the disc's that i > got when i brought my computer to start again, but i dont no where to start?? |

Try to use technical language when asking a serious question, e.g. avoid phrases such as "now it is all bung", to ensure that respondents take you seriously. The answer to your question is simple: Set your BIOS to use the CD drive as the primary boot device, then boot the machine with your WinXP CD. Now follow the prompts until Windows is re-installed. |

Tis restoration discs, more than one. Not a retail or otherwise install
type. Many manufactured computers already have set to boot from cd first. And, on some, you won't see the bios message indicating "boot from cd" at all as an indicator. Such is normal with mfr PCs with restoration CDs. Probably smarter to get them to try the restoration from boot first, then go through the painful process of setting it to boot from CD in the bios setup if unsuccessful. My 2 cents. -- Jonny "Pegasus" <I.can@fly.com> wrote in message news:e7J%237gI%23FHA.740@TK2MSFTNGP11.phx.gbl... > > "rochelle" <rochelle@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:83BC9318-3DD7-4065-B493-92084ED79536@microsoft.com... > > i installed some older software on my computer and now it is all bung, i > > uninstalled it and done a system restore but it did not work. now i have > > backed up all the stuff i need to keep and i want to use the disc's that i > > got when i brought my computer to start again, but i dont no where to > start?? > > Try to use technical language when asking a serious question, e.g. > avoid phrases such as "now it is all bung", to ensure that respondents > take you seriously.
