Default Installed 320gig drive; shows as 298gig

As soon as I installed my 320 gig Wes.Digital, it showed in Computer
Management as being only 298gig. After I formatted and assigned it a letter,
it still showed 298 gig. So where did the 22 gig go?

Thanks!

WD sizes the drive using base 10, Windows sizes the drive using base 2.

Base 10: 1000 x 1000 x 1000 = 1,000,000,000 (1 Gig)

Base 2: 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 1,073,741,824 (1 Gig)

So, 298 x 1,073,741,824 = 319,975,063,552 or 320 Gb

Thats usuall, I have seen it many many times,
But in your system setup, make sure that your BIOS is supporting 320 GIG,
otherwise you need to update your bios, which is not feasible for 22mbs.
Thanks

Jerry's answer sounds better. Ignore mine.
