I am unable to disable my touchpad on my laptop...obviously. I read in the
owner's manual to go into "printers and other hardware" then "mouse" and then to choose the "touch pad" tab and adjust the settings there. But, when I go into the mouse file, there is no "touch pad" tab. What to do now?? |

There should be a key or a button on the keyboard to also let you disable
it. You know, knowing which laptop you have sure would be useful here. Look in Device manager if you want to "disable" it.

Go into windows Device Manager. Look under Mouse and other Pointing Devices.
You will not be able to disable this in Device Manager like you can do with other devices. For the touch pad, you will have to do this: Under the Mouse and other Pointing Devices tab, click on touch pad properties, then click on advanced settings tab and then where it says "wheel detection" you need to select "detection disabled." Then reboot. BTW, did you say you went into Control Panel to try there? On just about
every laptop I have worked on, you could go into Control Panel > Mouse > either Hardware or Device Properties tab to disable the touch pad.
