HowTo: Load usb driver to XP Home safe mode?

Is there a way to load the usb driver for an Adaptec usb enclosed hard drive
if you boot up in Windows XP Home edition's "safe mode"?

Why do you need to start in safe mode to do that ?

The easiest approach is to temporarily connnect the drive
internally to the PC, then there is no problem with drivers.

XP does not allow itself to be "booted" from other connections besides SCSI,
IDE, SATA and eSATA.

To "take ownership" of "My Documents" folder on the enclosed hard drive. I
know the password, but it won't even ask me for it when I boot up normally.

But I can't boot from the hd. It crashed. That's why it's in an enclosure.

Boot from BartPE / UBCD4Win bootable CD to access files in external USB
disk.

You should be able to boot a BART PE or
knoppix CD and copy the files using that.

Sure, I wasnt suggesting you boot from it, just ADD it to
what you are currently booting from, but have it internal
instead of in an enclosure, so its visible in safe mode
because no USB driver is needed with an internal drive.

OK, you should be able to get the stuff
off the bad drive using a bootable CD.
