Default How to check a hard drive

Hello

I am a PC engineer and frequently hard drives fail. Sometimes a hard drive
is suspected but with no sure evidence it is only a guess to replace the
disk. Chkdsk on NT does not usually find any fault with a disk which is
really bad. Are there any hardware or software products which can
rigorously check a disk?

The best utility is the disk health utility available on the disk
vendor's site, if there is such utility. OTOH, I run chkdsk /r to fix
possible problems with the Windows file system before running the disk
health utilities.
