I'm having a problem getting my Western Digital External USB Hard Drive
(Dual-option Backup USB 2.0 - 160GB) to work on my Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop. My laptop is running Windows XP Pro Version 2002 Service Pack 2. The error I get is as follows: Windows could not load the installer for Volume. Contact your hardware vendor for assistance. I have plugged the HD into my wifes Dell laptop with the same configuration and it installed no problem and works like a charm. I've also installed the HD on a couple work computers with no problem. Only my laptop does it not work. I found a similar question on here, but no real answer. There doesn't seem to be an answer on the WD website either. Please help! |
