See the two links below. I have heard this happen from several people with
Maxtor drives. Are you uisng a Maxtor? If you cannot figure it out, can you take it back and get you a different one? Those 40gigs are really cheap now on CircuitCity.com and Newegg.com http://bermangraphics.com/problems/d...itefailure.htm http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=330174&sd=RMVP "SirWhale" <SirWhale@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A57B127E-0F2F-4F62-9337-F7CDBA44ADD3@microsoft.com... > Hello. Return it, get your refund, then install an internal HD. Western Digital has
been very reliable for me. Never had one to fail in over 10 years. |

The problem now is I need a way to get out the files I have on the drive now,
before I start doing anything else (didnt leave a copy in my normal C drive). "Mark Smith" wrote: > See the two links below. I have heard this happen from several people with > Maxtor drives. I fought the dreaded "Delayed Write Failed" erros over the past few
days. I deduced that my external USB drive was fine because it worked with my PCs at work, just not on my PC at home. My home PC is an older Dell, so I had USB 2.0 via an add-on PCI card from Startech using the Ali USB chipset. I suspected this was the culprit. Searching around the web, there were hints that using a USB PCI card with the NEC chipset can sometimes solve this problem. I went out and found one of those and it seems to have cured the problem for me. It seems many adapter cards out there use the NEC chipset (Belkin, Adaptec, Stratitec, etc...) |
