I've installed 120 GB ATA Seagate hard disc.
When the drive is plugged in the computer, it is functioning well, but my LG cd-rw drive can't read or execute large (about 100KB and more) files even if in safe mode with network support. But in safe mode without network support it works well! Does anyone know what should I do if I want to use my cd-rw drive as before installing the hard drive? If I unplug the HD and boot the system, CD drive works well. Event explorer XP service shows (when CD read errors occurs) paging and device errors. So do you know how to turn off paging of CDs??? Thank you very much for any advice |

This helped (from the last link): change drive controller, which CD drive is
plugged in, mode from "DMA" to "PIO only". I shut down removable media service also, but after restarting it the CD drive worked well, so maybe the PIO mode is the solution. I can burn CDs normally as before (I didn't try to burn when read problems occured). Now I have installed all the system and programs and have no problems even after rebooting. Thank you very much "Jaymon" wrote: > See if any might apply.. > http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;310123 > http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;324129 > http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=314096 > http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;321641 > j;-j > > "Stefan" wrote: > > > I've installed 120 GB ATA Seagate hard disc. > > When the drive is plugged in the computer, it is functioning well, but my LG > > cd-rw drive can't read or execute large (about 100KB and more) files even if > > in safe mode with network support. > > But in safe mode without network support it works well! > > Does anyone know what should I do if I want to use my cd-rw drive as before > > installing the hard drive?
