Default Hard disk problem

Hi,
I ran the Seatools diagnostic software on my hard disk & got the following
test as failed :

File Structure Test Result:

Partition 1 (NTFS (80 GB) ) Result: Failed with critical Errors

The following errors were found while scanning the volume:
- One or more errors were found in the index
- One or more errors were found in metadata file records

Can someone tell me how to proceed in order to resolve this? I am trying to
install Windows XP on this hard disk & am not being able to. After it
finishes formatting the hard disk (not quick) & when it is 'supposed' to
start copying windows files, I get this error:

Setup was unable to format the partition. The disk may be damaged.
Make sure the drive is switched on & properly connected to your computer....

Anyone know how to go about this ?

If the Seagate diagnostic disk has a formatting tool, try it. It might
resolve the problem. If it does not, get onto the Seagate web page,
check the warranty status of your disk and return it if under warranty.

With xp most of the mfg disk tools are worthless, the DOS utility can help at
times. For youre problem, simply install xp cd,select to boot to xp cd,at boot
screen menu, select r For recovery, disregard the text in recovery window and
typeiskPart In DiskPart, delete all partitions, then create one, then press
ESC
key, type:EXIT Reboot to xp cd,select, install xp.XP will format the hd and
install
the OS.

If the drive is still under guarantee, get it exchanged. If not, buy a new
one. It's never going to be a reliable drive, no matter how many times you
format it.... it's trying to tell you it's sick!

So in other words my hard disk is more or less broken ? Anyway before we come
to a conclusion about my hard disk, I ran the diagnostic software again &
well this time I got a different error:
File Structure Test Result:

Partition 1 (NTFS (80 GB) No Name) Result: Failed with critical Errors

The following errors were found while scanning the volume:
- Basic structure corruption

Also the other thing is EVERY other test passes except this one. Any new
conclusions or same old ones to show that the hard disk should be replaced ?
The other thing is I previously used two hard disks on this motherboard &
about a week or so ago my other hard disk also crashed, it suddenly just
started making this weird noise from it & was not detected by the computer,
as if it was trying to spin up but not being able to. I had both of them set
up in RAID 0 configuration & therefore had to format my computer to allow
only this hard disk to work & now even this seems to have gone faulty. Any
possible reasons ?

Try running the proper utility from boot media. Start with data storage low
level basics, not higher level filesystem problems.
This is the kind of utility that XP does not have for hard drives. That is
the reason a hard drive mfrs utility software is usually suggested.

What do you mean by that ? I currently am running the diagnostic software
from a floppy that I boot into at startup. I downloaded the diagnostic
software from the Seagate website.

You need a little plastic tool, about 2"x3-1/2"x1/32". Insert it in the
designated slot at CompUSA (or equiv.), and magic will happen. One popular
brand is made by Visa.

That was explained. Filesystem errors are of the filesystem. But that's
what your post was about. You don't care about that yet. You want to know
if each and every data block can reliably read and write data including the
MBR area.
