To experts here:
I noticed my photoshop application has been running slow since I installed WinXP service pack 2. How can I know the 2nd CPU is working properly? Is there any utility out there to test duel processor system ( Intel Xeon)? Thanks, -Joel |

Try intel.com,downloads,processor,locate,processor frequency analyzer.

Thanks Jerry and Andrew,
I downloaded both utilities based on your advice. intel's test shows duel processors running at the right speed (2 GHz). SiSoft's program shows duel processor running, but memory speed test is very slow. My system is now that new, but with Intel Xeon and 400 Mhz bus, memory speed should not be that slow. Problem is that Photoshop is running about 4 times slower than before. I got confused and don't know what's happened to the system. I checked CPU load of background to make sure there are not too many junks running on the background, and CPU is 98% in idle when Photoshop is not running. You think Microsoft guys can help? Thanks again, -Joel |

I'd check with the motherboard manufacturer first; after all it appears to
be a hardware issue (motherboard, cpu's, and memory) as opposed to software. How much memory do you have, you may need more RAM..?
What does SiSoft report for your mobo model # or computer make & model #..? In the task manager can you see both CPU's..? When you say 98% in idle, are you referring to the system idle process in the process tab..? If so that is completely normal.. j;-j "Joelx" wrote: > Thanks Jerry and Andrew, > > I downloaded both utilities based on your advice. intel's test shows > duel processors running at the right speed (2 GHz).
