Hi,
I just re-built my computer. A new motherboard, a new processor and a new video card. I now have an ATI All-In-Wonder X800XL. After I install Windows XP, I install the ATI software & drivers. First thing I notice, which I can never understand, is why there are 2 entries in the device manager under the 'Display Adapter'. There the the video card, and then another copy labeled 'Secondary'. At any rate, I cannot get out of 1024x768 no matter what. My desktop is a scrolling desktop.......and, if I go above 75htz for a refresh rate, I get this error message that says 'Can not display this mode'. I've tried updating my drivers and everything. If I use the 'Secondary' entry in the device manager, disabling the first, I can get to 1600x1200, but each time I boot I get an ATI dialog box that says no ATI graphics drivers are installed...... I'm going nuts here, and this is a new install of Windows. Can anyone offer any assistance, since it looks grim that I'll get it solved myself...... Thanks, Arthur |

You probably should ask over at the ATI forum about the card and drivers.

You normally connect to the primary (first) port and connect your second monitor (if you have one) to the secondary (second ports -- If DVI, you may need DVI to VGA adapter.) Also, you will need to install the updated ATi drivers (www.atitech.com???) and install your motherboard chipset drivers. -- --- Y. |
