Default Why isnt screen displaying anything?

Hello

I just recently tried to insall another 512 MB memory stick. I took out
the old one just to look at it and see what brand it was. Then I put it
back in the same place as it was originaly in and also added the new
memory stick (512). Then I tried to turn the computer on and everything
lights up and starts up. The screen shows that its on but theres no
green light just the amber light and It's not showing anything.

I've tried booting the computer up with no memory in it
I"ve tried booting it up with just the old memory stick in it
I've tried booting up with just the new memory stick in it
I've checked all the cables and everything is in place

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sal

Check for a loose video card, the video card is the first to initialize if that doesn't start up
nothing else will.

I just took the video card out, whiped away the dust and put it back in.
No luck.

Put the original stick of memory back in, leaving the new one out. Swap
out the video card for another known-working one. If you still can't
see anything, then you probably damaged something on the motherboard
while you were working with it. Take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop for diagnosis.

You will need to try a different adapter, as that one is no longer
working properly.

I've had something grounding out my MOBO somehow before and had the
same problem. So I remounted the motherboard and while the mobo was
out shook the case pretty good... fixed that...

you probably did this already but if the memory is not seated properly
it won't boot. I have built many machines for people and it happens to me
every once in a while.

Finaly!!!

Hey BigJim I took a closer look at the memory and noticed that in fact
the memory wasnt in place the right way! Man thanks a lot for the small
peice of help! Being a first timer installing ram / working with the
different components, I definatly learned a lot this round.

Thanks everyone for responding.

Sal
