Default Windows continually installs hardware

For whatever reason, my computer constantly prompts me to reboot because it
has finished installing new devices even though I haven't installed anything.
I've checked device manager and everything is fine there. Any ideas on how
to get it to stop, or why it's doing it? I'm going to try reinstalling
intel's chipset driver and see if that takes care of it, but any ideas or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's an HP DC7600 btw. Gig of ram, 80 SATA HD, Broadcom onboard Gig-enet,
and onboard video. Basic windows xp setup as well, nothing special.

Err. What hardware specifically is it? For instance if it's a printer
there's an answer. If not then I have no idea but without knowing exactly
what type of new devices it's installing, well, I can't really say for
certain.

Yea, that's the kicker, it doesn't say what it's installing. I'm not adding
anything to it like a printer or usb hub or anything like that. I tried
reinstalling the intel chipset software and that went ok but it still
prompted me, even in safe mode. BUT...I updated the BIOS and it went away,
so I have no clue what it was trying to install.

Thanks though!

Interesting that, glad you got it sorted.
