Not in device manager? not good. Do they appear on on the boot screen?
Do they appear in the BIOS? Did the cable to the motherboard get knocked
loose? Did the motherboard fail?

I am having the same problem and I tried everything I can research on this.
I tried the microsoft help by deleting upper and lower filters in the
registry and still can't see my d: & e: drives. It is driving me crazy,
spent hours doing this and I just want to get them working. It seems
everyone else follows the steps on microsofts help page and it works...but
not for me. Please...any info, pass along - I would really appreciate it.

Do they show up in the bios? It may be worth clearing your cmos and
resetting the bios. Don't know what else is left if you tried all the other
steps. Look and see if there are any updates for your bios. Be careful
though. Flashing the bios has to be done right or the motherboard can become
useless.

Bud...I'm no computer wiz...so I am not too sure what or where to look up my
cmos or bios. Maybe I should, but I'm learning. I never had a problem like
this before. It's just so aggravating cause it may be just updating the
registry, but I'm not sure how to restore it.

I had the same problem only yesterday. Double check the drive cable.
Mine was loose at the mobo end - right beside another connector where
it was difficult to see. Instant relief!!!

After days of trying all different things...it was the simplest thing I
didn't try. When you go Device Manager, my Secondary IDE drive had an
exclamation on the icon. I uninstalled the secondary ide and automatically
the drives were recognized, reinstalled, and it was back to normal. I guess
I didn't think it could be that simple...but try it Ryan if you haven't
already done so. I feel your pain, all week I was trying to solve this...and
nothing was working. So try the simple thing. So its Device
Manager...Secondary IDE Controller...right click on and "reinstall" It does
the rest automatically. If not you can go to Control Panel after you've
uninstalled it, and Add New Hardware. Hope this works. Let me
know...curious if we both just needed to do this one little thing. I am
releived.
