Heres my computers specs.
Asus p4sp-mx Mother Board Intel Celeron 2.4 GHZ CPU socket 478 256 MB Ram 40 Gig Maxtor DiamondMax Plus Hard Drive The computer was running off the onboard VGA Earlier today the computer would not turn off, so I turned off the power to the wall. Then later when I went to turn on the computer, the POST goes through ok, and then I see the windows xp load up screen, then the screen goes blank for a few seconds, and then the computer reboots and it runs in that loop until I turn off the power. I've tried another socket 478 2.2 Pentium 4 cpu, a different stick off ram, and the result Is the same. I've inserted an AGP VGA Card and this does not help. I've run chkdsk /r from the recovery console and was told that one error on the hard disk was fixed. I've run windows xp repair, and get just past the screens for regional and product key settings, and then the thing just reboots, and the windows repair process is restarted, again an endless loop. I've attached a hard drive with an existing windows xp installation from another computer with a socket 478 cpu in it, and the computer freeze's during the windows xp welcom screen, I think that there are too many differences between the machines for that to work. The only think I have not tried yet is to swap out the power supply. Hope someone might be able to help. -- Message posted via WindowsKB.com http://www.windowskb.com/Uwe/Forums....dware/200512/1 |

Try to do F8 and select "Do not reboot automatically on error" or something like that and note the error... My shot in the dark! Mike |
