Default 5 ports PCI USB 2.2 card on Asus with XP enhenced USB 2.0

Is that possible this 5 ports PCI USB card wont fit with Windows XP pro USB driver?

I chedked the device adapter saw the enhenced USB driver..
I checked the device adapter saw all the 5 USB root hub and working properly..
I checked the PCI USB option is correctly enabled on the BIOS..

I have installed SP1a and SP2 and reboot the computer with the Asus motherboard..

Any USB device 1.0 or HI-SPEED 2.0 still not being recognised when plugged in..

Anyone already had this problem and solved it... or this USB card may not work
with the XP enhenced USB 2.0 driver?

Thanks to help or any advices...

If this is indeed a PCI add-on card for USB, disable any and all USB options
in the bios. This will free up hardware irqs consumed by those, and not
confuse the situation. The PCs bios options for USB have no effect of the
PCI add-on card for USB.

Does your PC/motherboard support PCI version 2.2?

Hi Jonny,

On the Asus user's manual, it says the PCI configuation in the BIOS
require to have the USB option enabled...

I saw in the OS, that the enhenced USB driver is 2.0.. not 2.2

So, what about the motherboard.. I thought the PCI specs is simply
speed, like 33 Mhz, just fit the specs of the PCI UBS card wrote on
the box. Does the PCI slot on the baord should support a version?

It is also wrote on the box, this PCI USB card was compliant with
the USB 2.2 Is that means it will not work on a motherbord that
is driven with a OS compliant with USB 2.0 drivers?

Maybe I didn't get something...

So, still need help!

If you want the motherboard's USB to work, yes. But that is not the subject
or the issue at hand. Disable it.

2.0 is a version of USB. 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 are the latter versions of the
PCI specification.

Again, we're talking the PCI specification here, not the USB specification.
Some older boards may not support PCI version 2.2

We'll maybe you should read it again. Or the text on the box is incorrect,
and misleading.

Thanks for the answer. Actually, the computer I try to fix
is not mine. So I don't have it at home..
I find curious this USB option is located in the BIOS PCI configuration..
As you say, I'll switch off this option tomorrow!

Happy to know this. It is always time to learn more...

In fact, this might be the case...

Default Re: 5 ports PCI USB 2.2 card on Asus with XP enhenced USB 2.0

Disabling the USB option in the BIOS effectively disable the USB
on the motherboard. But the USB 2.0 still not working. Then,
I uninstall all the USB device on the Device Manager et restart the
computer. Every USB device come on again, but is was not better.

Meanhwile, my brother-in-law bought another PCI card with 5 USB
ports. This time it is an Open Host Controler instead of Enhence Host
Controler. It is a 'nec' chipset instead of the 'via' chipset. All the
other specifications on both boxes was exactly the same.

We put the Open HCI pci card on the computer and the USB 2.0
ports works just fine at the first try.

So, thanks again for all the informations you provide. It is very
appreciated...
