Default USB 2.0 Hub weirdness

I have a 4 port usb hub 2.0 that will recognize my scanner on one port only,
the three others report 'unknown hardware'. Is there a way to flush out the
other 3 ports or reset them so that they can recognize my scanner. The 3
ports recognize other devices just fine.

This could be the manufacture try to save money, the port you are using had
the most power the rest is salve of the master. By the way I guess your hub
is non-power type?

No, the hub is powered by a wart connected to wall socket. I checked device
manager, the scanner showed 0 ma, while a a connected thumb drive showed 70
ma, specs are 100 ma /port. ??
