It shouldn't be a problem.... these ports are on the motherboard?
Did you try a different USB cable? Are the USB ports working correctly with all other USB devices? -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "raven666" <raven666@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:886DA4AE-C520-490B-BA3C-2A20F7079A4D@microsoft.com... > hi i have already tried that, yep b4 you ask i did a full shut down and a > reset and a log off of the computer? i'm using usb 1 but that shuldnt make > a > difference should it? when i ask the computer to look 4 it it says new > device > found and that new device is a usb hub??? im really confused now > > "Cari (MS-MVP)" wrote: > >> Try a different USB port. >> -- >> Cari (MS-MVP) >> Printing & Imaging >> http://www.coribright.com/windows >> >> >> >> "raven666" <raven666@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:1DDFEF45-B9A6-41BE-B78F-B2AB0B1E2555@microsoft.com... >> > hi folks can anyone help me??? my printer driver setup keeps saying >> > that >> > my >> > cable is damaged or not connected so can not carry on with instalation >> > of >> > setup? has anybody else had this problem with the lexmark X1190 >> > all-in-one? >> > im running win xp, plenty of ram, plenty of virtual memory, usb cable >> > is >> > fine? i follow the setup instructions to the letter, plase help if you >> > can >> > many thanks for reading this >> >> >> |

Try downloading a new set of drivers from the Lexmark website.
Shutdown the PC.... disconnect the PC (temporarily) from the internet by disconencting the USB modem. Start up the PC, install the printer software and see if it now correctly recognizes the printer. If it does, it may indicate that your PSU is not outputting sufficient wattage to power both USB ports at once. BTW a printer with a USB port can be considered a USB hub in addition to being a printer. Sure they are designed to connect a digital camera, but there really is nothing to stop any USB device being 'daisy chained' in this way provided the power is sufficient. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "raven666" <raven666@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:06E8B4A8-BEEB-4337-82D3-B358B2EC32CA@microsoft.com... > hi yep the ports are on the motherboard, im using my internet connection > through my usb port so they r fine, ive tried 3 different cables now still > to > no avail? > > "Cari (MS-MVP)" wrote: > >> It shouldn't be a problem.... these ports are on the motherboard? >> >> Did you try a different USB cable? >> >> Are the USB ports working correctly with all other USB devices? >> -- >> Cari (MS-MVP) >> Printing & Imaging >> http://www.coribright.com/windows >> >> >> >> "raven666" <raven666@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:886DA4AE-C520-490B-BA3C-2A20F7079A4D@microsoft.com... >> > hi i have already tried that, yep b4 you ask i did a full shut down and >> > a >> > reset and a log off of the computer? i'm using usb 1 but that shuldnt >> > make >> > a >> > difference should it? when i ask the computer to look 4 it it says new >> > device >> > found and that new device is a usb hub??? im really confused now >> > >> > "Cari (MS-MVP)" wrote: >> > >> >> Try a different USB port. >> >> -- >> >> Cari (MS-MVP) >> >> Printing & Imaging >> >> http://www.coribright.com/windows >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> "raven666" <raven666@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> >> news:1DDFEF45-B9A6-41BE-B78F-B2AB0B1E2555@microsoft.com... >> >> > hi folks can anyone help me??? my printer driver setup keeps saying >> >> > that >> >> > my >> >> > cable is damaged or not connected so can not carry on with >> >> > instalation >> >> > of >> >> > setup? has anybody else had this problem with the lexmark X1190 >> >> > all-in-one? >> >> > im running win xp, plenty of ram, plenty of virtual memory, usb >> >> > cable >> >> > is >> >> > fine? i follow the setup instructions to the letter, plase help if >> >> > you >> >> > can >> >> > many thanks for reading this >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> |
