Default Sound installation problem

I am having a problem installing my Realtek AC97 Audio. I try to use the
driver CD to install it, but when I do, a Windows message pops up telling me
to use Control Panel for installing hardware. Problem is, Windows doesn't
install it right when I use Control Panel, and I can't get sound. Anyone know
a way to perhaps force the CD installation?

Default Re: Sound installation problem

I'll assume this is onboard sound on the motherboard. Try downloading the
drivers from the manufactures website. Ensure the onboard sound is enabled
in the BIOS. Remove the old drivers (either through Add/Remove Programs if
listed, or through System Properties). Restart and install new drivers
specifying the file/location of the downloaded drivers.
