Hi
I have just migrated to a new computer. When I plugged in my mp3 player in the past, an icon appeared in the bottom toolbar to 'remove peripherals' (or sth similar in English as this is translated) Now it no longer appears and I have to unplug my player while it is still on which I don't like. Any ideas how to get the icon to appear when I plug in the player? Thanks Dave Neve |

In Windows Explorer right-click the MP3 player (assuming it appears as a drive in Windows) and select Properties. Then select the Hardware tab and finally the Policies tab. Look at the setting 'Write caching and Safe Removal'. If 'Optimize for quick removal' is selected then you do not need to use the Safe Removal icon for the MP3 player. If however the setting is 'Optimize for performance' then change it to 'Optimize for quick removal' and do away with the need for the Safe Removal procedure. Martin. |

Didn't quite get the order of selections right there.. To find the 'Write caching and Safe Removal' settings you need to: Right-click the MP3 player in Windows Explorer. Select Properties and then the Hardware tab. Locate your MP3 player in the list of disk drives and select Properties. (Missed this bit out previously!) Then select Policies tab on the dialog that pops up. Martin. |
