Hi.
I know the root of this problem isn't actually mup.sys. It's actually the process after it. But, what I'm wanting to know is how to solve my problem. Here is my problem: I recently purchased a Belkin Firewire/USB combo card and put it in my PC. It was working fine until I tried to use it's firewire capabilities. Clearly, my computer doesn't have the drivers or something it needs for this work. When the PCI card is in, I can't actually boot up my system properly. I just freezes when looging on, or on 'Mup.sys' when trying to boot safe mode. How can I somehow bypass whatever it is, and hopefully try and solve the problem in windows.. OR is there another solution? (other than formatting or buying new hardware, etc..) |

Try updating your motherboard chipset drivers. The process after MUP.sys is
AGP sys (actual file name varies as to the motherboard chipset. I've seen multiple ways of getting round this one ranging from flashing and/or resetting the BIOS to optimized defaults, checking the capacitors on the motherboard (if bulging, time to replace the mobo), Repair Installing XP and changing the IDE cables. Basically it's telling you something is troubling XP in the hardware configuration, but actually working out which hardware it is, can be almost impossible. In your case, you know it appears to be the installation of the PCI USB/Firewire combo card (and XP should simple install the drivers as they are included).... but you're also looking at the chipset of the motherboard because it connects via a PCI slot and these may fail on the mobo or can be disabled if you are using some of the motherboard's built in capabilities... check your motherboard manual to ensure that the slot you chose is available in all motherboard configurations. Have you tried more than one slot? As you've seen at Google, there are nearly 22,000 pages on this topic.... -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows <acidecks@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1135641129.019637.72550@f14g2000cwb.googlegro ups.com... > Hi. > I know the root of this problem isn't actually mup.sys. Yeah, lol... So many stuff about mup.
And yes, I've tried al my PCI slots ;( BUT... I have actually been updating all my drivers. I also go an update for my AGP... And some other drivers. After this update, a fwe things have disppeared from my device manager (not in a bad way - evertything still works) which probably means there were some conflicts going on anyway. Thanks for your help, and now I know that updating my drivers will help, I'm not gonna stop ![]() Cheers, I'll tell you how it goes. |
