Default audio cuts our when printing

Sometimes afte my printer spools up, and the moment it begins printing, the
audio will cut out and I need to reboot in order to get sound again.
Anyone have any thoughts on what is causing this?
Thanks,
Pete

Look in Device Manager. What IRQ's are being used for the printer
and for the sound card?

Also, how much RAM does your PC have? When using the Print Spooler system,
Windows needs a lot of RAM to send the "pages" to the printer and "may"
clobber some configuration in memory.

My guess is insufficient hardware to run a software powered printer and
a software powered sound system.

Sometimes the audio just cuts out when I am just surfing the Web -- no
visible RAM using operation is in process.
I have 512MB of RAM, but it is 2 (256) older type chips - 200MHz - that I
put into the ASUS P4S8X-X motherboard. Maybe I should try a newer 512MB chip
that is 266MHz. Can I mix these chips?

I'd wonder about the HD IDE interface at this point. Is it using DMA
transfers or has it dropped to PIO? Look in Device manager.
