Yes.
It's even compatible with the X2 (dual core) CPUs, although I'm not sure what service pack level is required. (I'm at SP2.) Are you having a problem? An obvious one is that some Athlon 64 mainboards require a newer BIOS than the one they shipped with to support newer CPUs. In that case, the machine may not boot, much less permit you to install an operating system. Some makers (like Asus) provide a way to upgrade the BIOS even if the board won't boot with a newer CPU.
