Is there a way to change DMA settings from mode2 to mode4?
I just installed a new Sony DVD burner which will only register as mode 2 & the old Pioneer DVD burner which recently died always registered as mode 4 & burned @ 8x. The new burner which is 16x will only burn @ 2x using the same 80 wire cable. I have tried several brands of media with the same problem. Any suggestions? Sony are too slow at answering. TIA Dave |

You either have a bad drive or bad media. It will be stated on the media package the maximum rate. |

If you connected this the the second IDE channel, that "seems" to be the fastest you can get. Install/update the motherboard chipset drivers. These should contain the Ultra DMA drivers. -- --- Y. |

Hi,
Shutdown then access the BIOS on reboot. Fist Page: Highlight the new SONY drive to access its own menu. Should be in there.... go for the max values. |
