Greetings to all,
I have bought a USB 2.0 4 port hub from my local dealer, without any apparent sensible designations, so i suppose it is some kind of generic hub. For what is worth, the following is inscribed on PCB: HUB2.0---LY001 YL:13825121401 The hub itself is based on Genesys Logic's GL850A chip. But the problem starts when i connect it to a computer(s) with Windows XP SP1. The hub itself is properly recognized, but any device i connect (mouse, keyboard, USB flash stick...) is not - Windows recognize it like an "Unknown device". At a glance, one would thing that hub is malfunctioning, and prior to taking it back for warranty, i decided to try it on my laptop with Win ME. Voila, it works without a problem. Laptop with W2k SP4, same thing, along with desktop computers with W2k SP4. WXP machines are KT400 i.e. i865, so i suppose that the chipset issue can be easily dismissed. I have also tried connecting the hub to various ports (starting from USB 2.0 to 1.1), but with no effect. Both Windows installations have been installed recently, and all potential problematic programs (firewalls, anti virus programs) were shut down. Any ideas would be appreciated. However, i must note that migrating to SP2 is highly undesirable, as for it is necessary, i would rather use some sort of patch or update. Thank you in advance. -- Documentation is like sex: when it's good, it's very, very good; when it's bad, it's better than nothing. |

Not familiar with you KT 400 but if the chipset is based on a VIA chipset, you may need to also apply the USB filter for VIA Hyperion 4 in 1 chipset drivers. -- --- Y. |
