Default PSU & number of USB devices

If there is not enough power rating (the power supply unit) to support the
number of USB devices attached to an older machine, could this lead to
corrupt file transfers from a CF camera card (and/or the machine
spontaneously rebooting) ?

thanks
Frank

Apparently, you or your source of information has decided the AGE of the PC
is the limiting factor, which it is not.

perhaps I wasnt clear, or you misunderstood, it was not the age per se but
rather the implied limited number of usb ports in an old motherboard.
It only has two built in plus I added a pci card with another two ports.

Hi
In my experience as a PC Engineer, YES a PSU with a low power rating would
definately cause system errors, not too sure about reboots but
definately problems would occur
Calculate the power of the PSU you would require here

thanks for the link - i am underpowered; and will have to either get a
bigger psu or perhaps I can get away with using a usb hub with it's own
power cable so attached devices dont draw power off the computer ?

And the AGE of the PC has nothing to do with if its underpowered or not.
Typically, todays' PCs are marginally powered for add-ons.
