[Windows Xp Home, SP2,] When I go to H&S (F1, or start menu) it loads fine
that is not my problem, but when I click any of the links, mainly on the left side, I get "Cannot Display the Page" I have been to HP tech 3 times, I have reinstalled via Command Prompt, I have been to several tutorials including this: http://www.winxptutor.com/helpctrscripting.htm and have searched Google / yahoo till I'm blue. Not that I need the Help and support now, but I noticed it when clicking "Troubleshoot" buttons in Device Manager too. so I may need it someday If there are any registry tricks I can try I'm game (familiar around the registry) |

Clear the Temporary Internet Files
----------------------------------- Close all Internet Explorer windows Type INETCPL.CPL in Start, Run dialog Click the Delete Files button Select Delete all offline content and click OK Click OK to close the dialog Clear the contents of the TEMP folder --------------------------------------- Type %TEMP% in Start, Run dialog Select all files in the Temp folder and delete them Some files in the TEMP folder may be in use. If so, ignore the error and continue deleting the remaining files in that folder. Additional note: Ted Zieglar posted this long back: <quote> And here is what finally solved my problem: Move TIF somewhere else; let XP log you out; log back in; move TIF back to where it was originally; let XP log you out; and log back in. Voila! Why this works I have no idea. It just works. I'm still left with the minor annoyance that H & S doesn't think I'm connected to the internet. The home page says "When you are connected to the Internet, this area will display links to timely help and support information...etc." That's no big deal, really, because I can still connect to the MSKB and Windows Update through H & S. In fact there are two MSKB articles that describe this problem, but both refer to DSL connections and I have cable. For now, I'm happy I have the Help and Support Center back. Thanks for reading. Hopefully this will help someone else. </quote> Here is a comprehensive rebuild method http://windowsxp.mvps.org/rebuildhelp.htm **Note that the above might remove any OEM customizations done to Help Center. -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows XP Shell/User] Windows® XP Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com "rwrede" <rwrede@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:16736CD2-5915-4208-92AD-B1A2EB415C46@microsoft.com...
